Follow Your Heart is a wonderful addition to Puran and Susanna Bair's other books Living From the Heart and Energize Your Heart. This book outlines the steps on the spiritual path in a very down to earth way with examples from their students' lives to illustrate their points. I agree with another poster that this book is not a "how to" book but it provides a clear outline of steps on the spiritual path regardless of which path or religion one follows.
Through most of human history, only a small percentage of the population was allowed to learn about spiritual matters in great depth. Today a much larger percentage of people are asking deep spiritual questions and knowledge that was previously reserved for only a few is now availible to anyone who wants it. This book, Follow Your Heart is an example of this newly availible old knowledge. It is written as a DIY guide to a spiritual life, and I think would be valuable to anyone who wants an overview of what that can be. On the other hand, I don't think that one can actually have a spiritual life on a DIY basis, so if someone were to think that they could buy the book and use it as a sole resource along the spiritual path, I think it might be a frustrating experience. I think the book works best as a 'course notes' collection of information while working with a live community, or as a way to preview what the spiritual path might mean to an individual. I would suggest that anyone who is looking for a book that they can use to establish a meditiation practice without additional resource buy Living From The Heart
Here are the steps simply stated to guide you to enlightenment with the help of the path of the heart. Open the book, open your eyes and heart to the life within that leads to the bliss of this state of enlightenment. They offer the help that can take anyone there who wishes. It is here for us all to step into the life we were meant to live. It is a glorious place to be of light and life and love.
Have you ever been advised by friends or family to "follow your heart" when you ask for advice on certain situations? Have you ever been the one to give that advice? You hear it said all the time but what does it really mean to follow your heart? Puran and Susanna Bair did a great job of putting together a guide, of sorts, on what it means to follow your heart and the great things following your heart could lead you to. According to these authors, finding your true purpose in the world begins with following your heart and I really enjoyed this book. I think you should follow your heart 99.9% of the time. I'm one of those people who doesn't know how to tell my heart no on anything at all so I wind up hurt more often than not but if you can keep a good balance and use some of the ideas and tools that Puran and Susanna introduce in their novel, I think it could be incredibly beneficial. A great read, especially for Christians, or people who believe in a higher power because it dives into faith and finding your true purpose in the world through faith, insight and courage.
